The mountain bike competition at the Tokyo Olympics will be the seventh time that the event will be held since it made its debut at Atlanta 1996 with victories by Dutch rider Bart Brentjens and Italy's Paola Pezzo.
The MTB event of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021 for the men and the women's race will take place on Tuesday, July 27. Both events will start at 08:00 AM CET.
Among the favorites for medals in the men's mountain bike event will be: Nino Schurter, Mathias Flüeckiger, Thomas Pidcock, Mathieu van der Poel, Jordan Sarrou, Henrique Avancini, Ondrej Cink, Victor Koretzky, Milan Vader, Maxime Marotte or Titouan Carod.
In women's category, the favorites to win an Olympic medal in mountain biking are: Loana Lecomte, Pauline Ferrand Prevot, Jenny Rissveds, Jolanda Neff, Anne Terpstra, Eva Lechner or Rebecca McConnell.
